Mini Grants

The Arts Council provides Mini Grants to support cultural projects which contribute to the quality of life in Rutherford County.

Mini Grants are available to organizations and individuals.

There is no deadline, and application is made by telephone or visit, followed up with a written request.

Recent example: $250 to Isothermal Community College to support Art Hop project.

Scholarships

The Arts Council provides scholarship assistance for music lessons and other direct arts training upon recommendation of qualified teacher- artists. There is no deadline; inquiry should be made by visit or telephone (245-4000).

Regional Artist Project Grant Program 2009-2010

Rutherford County Arts Council has announced the 2009-2010 Regional Artist Project Grant. The grant program is sponsored by 8 local arts councils, including the Charlotte Arts and Sciences Council, which administers the program for the consortium. Funding is provided by the individual arts councils, the North Carolina Arts Council and the Blumenthal Endowment. The Regional Artist Project Grant Program provides an award for individuals and groups of unincorporated artists to pursue projects that further enhance their artistic development. Maximum grant amounts that can be requested are $5,000 for established artists and $3,000 for emerging artists.

The Regional Artist Project Grant Program alternates disciplines every year. Performing and literary artists are eligible to apply for the upcoming 2009 deadline. Performing artists may include musicians, dancers, composers, choreographers, theatre professionals, storytellers, spoken word performers, etc. Literary artists may include fiction and nonfiction writers, poets, playwrights, songwriters, etc. (Visual artists and filmmakers will be eligible to apply for the 2010 deadline.)
